texte = There has been some confusion surrounding the licensing for WebDNA Partnerand Commerce Editions of 5.0. I know we have referred to it as perdomain as well as per website. These terms are easily confused, and thathasn't helped! These are all examples of what we refer to as a website(also known as a hostname):www.mallstore12.comww2.mallstore12.combeta.mallstore12.comsupport.mallstore12.comThe domain in all of these cases would be represented by themallstore12.com portion, and that IS NOT what we are considering a singlewebsite. The base versions of WebDNA Partner and Commerce Edition 5.0 willbe sold as a single *website* product with add-on websites available via asecondary license that is 'keyed' off of the primary license. Because ofthis change, pricing to upgrade most 4.x installations will be morereasonable than previous upgrades. For those who need to preserve theability to serve unlimited commerce websites, we have included a costeffective upgrade path that provides this.In the example above, an upgrade to Commerce Edition 5.0 would involve theupgrade at $495 and 3 additional website add-ons at $50 each. For thisscenario, this is more reasonable and lower cost than previous versionupgrades while still allowing the ability to add more website add-ons tomeet any level of need. Folders under each of these websites can be isolated and protected with thenew sandbox feature, e.g., www.mallstore12.com/doug andwww.mallstore12.com/fred can be 2 complete commerce solutions with separateadmin, databases, templates etc. Each client could operate their onlineventures independent of one another while only paying for a single WebDNAwebsite license. There are no limitations to the number of customers youcould serve this way. Additionally, each customer benefits from being ableto use their own IDE Lab environment. And because WebDNA Commerce Edition5.0 will include XML and XSLT extensions, each customer can easily integrateweb services for shipment tracking, etc.To help address the needs of developers who are serving up hundreds ofcustomers, we offer 2 upgrade paths; the ability to upgrade a CommerceEdition 5.0 license to support unlimited websites at competitive pricing, and a VERY attractive $2995 upgrade price to WebDNA Enterprise Edition thatdefaults to unlimited websites, as well as providing significant value-addedfeatures. Considering what you get for this price compared to MX Server,Enterprise Edition is a very compelling solution for providing advancedfeatures to a broad range of customer needs! Each of your customers can havetheir own work group content management system. Each customer can have theirown Intranet. The WSDL Wizard can be used to provide each customer withcustom web services solutions, producing all the code to support SOAP callsto a web service in minutes instead of a manually process that wouldotherwise take days of labor to create. The value you are able to deliver tothe customer is exceptional! With the release of WebDNA 5.0, we have a robust, scalable web developmentplatform that is attractive to both new and experienced developers. We nowhave a more competitive product offering that accommodates small/mediumbusiness more than ever. Our support for the product is excellent and we areconstantly working on what's next for WebDNA. We're thrilled to work withthe folks we call partners and hope to build that base every day.I hope this helps understand the exciting new direction we are taking withWebDNA!Thank you for your time,Doug-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
