texte = There has been some confusion surrounding the licensing for WebDNA Partner and Commerce Editions of 5.0. I know we have referred to it as per domain as well as per website. These terms are easily confused, and that hasn't helped! These are all examples of what we refer to as a website (also known as a hostname):www.mallstore12.com ww2.mallstore12.com beta.mallstore12.com support.mallstore12.comThe domain in all of these cases would be represented by the mallstore12.com portion, and that IS NOT what we are considering a single website. The base versions of WebDNA Partner and Commerce Edition 5.0 will be sold as a single *website* product with add-on websites available via a secondary license that is 'keyed' off of the primary license. Because of this change, pricing to upgrade most 4.x installations will be more reasonable than previous upgrades. For those who need to preserve the ability to serve unlimited commerce websites, we have included a cost effective upgrade path that provides this.In the example above, an upgrade to Commerce Edition 5.0 would involve the upgrade at $495 and 3 additional website add-ons at $50 each. For this scenario, this is more reasonable and lower cost than previous version upgrades while still allowing the ability to add more website add-ons to meet any level of need. Folders under each of these websites can be isolated and protected with the new sandbox feature, e.g., www.mallstore12.com/doug and www.mallstore12.com/fred can be 2 complete commerce solutions with separate admin, databases, templates etc. Each client could operate their online ventures independent of one another while only paying for a single WebDNA website license. There are no limitations to the number of customers you could serve this way. Additionally, each customer benefits from being able to use their own IDE Lab environment. And because WebDNA Commerce Edition 5.0 will include XML and XSLT extensions, each customer can easily integrate web services for shipment tracking, etc.To help address the needs of developers who are serving up hundreds of customers, we offer 2 upgrade paths; the ability to upgrade a Commerce Edition 5.0 license to support unlimited websites at competitive pricing, and a VERY attractive $2995 upgrade price to WebDNA Enterprise Edition that defaults to unlimited websites, as well as providing significant value-added features. Considering what you get for this price compared to MX Server, Enterprise Edition is a very compelling solution for providing advanced features to a broad range of customer needs! Each of your customers can have their own work group content management system. Each customer can have their own Intranet. The WSDL Wizard can be used to provide each customer with custom web services solutions, producing all the code to support SOAP calls to a web service in minutes instead of a manually process that would otherwise take days of labor to create. The value you are able to deliver to the customer is exceptional! With the release of WebDNA 5.0, we have a robust, scalable web development platform that is attractive to both new and experienced developers. We now have a more competitive product offering that accommodates small/medium business more than ever. Our support for the product is excellent and we are constantly working on what's next for WebDNA. We're thrilled to work with the folks we call partners and hope to build that base every day.I hope this helps understand the exciting new direction we are taking with WebDNA!Thank you for your time,Doug------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
