texte = Dear Doug and SmithMicro,First of all - thank you for evaluation you pricing policies for your WebDNA products since the first round premiered a couple of weeks ago. That was the positive part of my mail unfortunately. If I understand your message below correct you are saying that a Commerce license for version 5.0 does not allow you to use more that one domain, unless you pay $50 for each additional domain or $1.000 for unlimited domain usage.Commerce edition 5.0 allows you to use one (1) domain...www.domain-a.comIf you want to host more domainswww.domain-b.com www.domain-c.com etc.You have to pay additional $50 for each domain or $1.000 for unlimited domains. When I bought our first licenses for WebCatalog some years ago i costed approx. $3.495 for a very good development language/toolbox incl. unlimited domains.Every time a new version of WebCatalog (now WebDNA) arrived, we upgraded every time at $499 per license.Today, many upgrades later we are using WebDNA 4.5.x with unlimited domains and when you introduced the new WebDNA line-up our old licenses was equal to WebDNA Commerce 4.5 edition. Now, were are offered to upgrade to WebDNA Commerce Edition 5.0 for (again $499), which includes new features (as expected), but you remove one essential feature - the unlimited domain usage - WHY ???My guess is that most of your customers, being WebDNA Developers use their licenses (WebDNA Commerce 4.5) for more than one (1) domain. Just to give you an example, we use approx. 25 domains on our WebDNA server all using WebDNA tags.If you expect us to buy additional 25 domains licenses at $50 each ($1.250) or a unlimited domain license for the Commerce Edition at $1.000 (which is the same price a brand new Commerce license) or upgrade to a new WebDNA Enterprise or Intranet Edition - you must be kidding. To be quit frank, you a killing you most loyal customers - being your developers. Why do you remove such an essential feature from your product?I have been an advocate of WebDNA for many years now. I know for a fact that my suggestions to other companies etc. has ended up in you selling at least 5 - 8 new licenses (new customers) and I have at least forwarded you approx. $10.000 in WebDNA licensing and upgrades. If you insist and keep your new pricing scheme and licensing politics I am sure that I as well as other developers will be forced to leave this very good product and community.I hope you understand that you are making a very big mistake in removing the unlimited domain feature within your WebDNA Commerce Edition and not being able to upgrade to version 5.0 for the usual fee.I write this (somewhat long) email in hope that you will re-think you strategy towards your forthcoming version 5.0 product.I hope I will be able to stay as a WebDNA Develops, but the terms and conditions proposed are absolutely not fair. You need to care about your current customer base and the customer base will continue to be your best advocates.I for sure will buy additional WebDNA Commerce Editions if it included the unlimited domains and was kept in the normal $499.Palle B.
